I also did talk to my mum over dinner and she kind of saw my point and we both agreed that a loving home, regardless of the sexuality of the parents, was what children need and any adoption is better than staying in care. Sadly she still stuck to the idea that a straight couple should be chosen over a gay couple, when I pointed out that that was discriminaton she couldn't think of anything else to say and the conversation was effectively over.
